MISSION

METU Applied Mathematics Institute has the mission of creating an interdisciplinary working environment in mathematics-based research/application areas, informing researchers about new, applicable mathematical topics, creating an academic environment where research will be conducted for this purpose, and training competent human resources in this field, considering that mathematics is the common language of scientists in order to better understand nature, technological and economic processes.

Within the framework of its missions, the Applied Mathematics Institute aims to develop its twenty-year accumulation and experience in line with new fields and expansions, establish national and international academic and industrial collaborations with interdisciplinary research and projects, and train qualified human resources who will contribute to these fields.

VISION

Establishing a communication network among various disciplines, training graduates who have received education at international standards, implementing METU-Industry/Public institutions cooperation by organizing projects and education/research meetings, ensuring the effective application of mathematics in other fields and the realization of activities aimed at research in these fields, and realizing opportunities for international cooperation.

OUR POLICIES

The Institute of Applied Mathematics establishes a working environment where researchers working at our university and other educational institutions can conduct research in the field of applied mathematics and establish collaborations through the four programs it hosts. A platform is created where national and international researchers can take part as affiliated faculty members and young researchers can actively participate in Postdoctoral programs. By hosting general seminars, conferences and meetings, both our Institute and our University are gain increased visibility. The priority is to produce high-quality publications from theses and project studies and to ensure the contribution of our students to these publications.

OUR CORE VALUES

The requirement of highlighting the significance of mathematical science—the universal language—as well as our university's core principles has been accepted by METU Institute of Applied Mathematics.
